Odor Control Equip

Odor & Particulate Control Equipment for the Rendering Industry

In addition to high quality aluminum trailers manufactured by Redwood Metal Works, we now offer the rendering industry, odor and particulate control equipment. Single and multi stage venturi and packed bed scrubber systems from 1,000 to 100,000 cfm, cyclone separators and chemical monitors & recording instruments tailored to your needs.

Effective particulate and odor control can be achieved with minimal operating cost when control equipment is properly applied, well maintained and operated within mfg specifications.  Scrubbers without instruments to monitor operating parameters (recycle rates, pressure drops, temperatures, make up water and chemical feed) can be inefficient.

Don’t assume by switching to one of the number of new chemicals on the market today for wet scrubbers will solve all your problems.  In order for any chemical to be effective a scrubber needs to be in good operating condition.  If your scrubber has not been inspected or evaluated in the last two to three years by an outside company, you’re likely not getting the full benefit of your investment.   Having Redwood Metal Works make a site visit to evaluate your control equipment will more than pay for itself with improved scrubber performance and reduced operating cost.

As a way of introducing you to Redwood Metal Works, control equipment and services, we can offer you a very reasonable rate to evaluate existing emission control systems at your plant site. We find when recommendations from a site visit are implemented; control equipment performance improves as does the plant atmosphere, nuisance complaints decrease and annual operating cost are less.

Redwood Metal Works can spec and supply a full line of repair parts for most scrubbers.

PACKING MATERIAL: There are a variety of packing styles, each having different design characteristics.  When purchasing packing look for a style and size that has low pressure drop per foot and large geometric surface area.

MIST ELIMINATORS: Most commonly used mist eliminators in packed bed or venturi scrubbers are plastic Chevron blade styles that are very efficient and not prone to plugging like stainless steel mesh mist eliminators.  Available in polypropylene, glass coupled polypropylene good to 265°F and stainless steel construction.

SPRAY NOZZLES & HEADERS: Using properly sized spray nozzles and layout to uniformly wet the entire upper surface of packing without losing large volumes of scrubbing solution to the tower side wall is critical for effective odor control. Spray nozzles and headers fabricated of PVC, CPVC or Stainless steel for new or existing scrubbers are available.

RECYCLE PUMPS: Stainless steel recycle pumps sized to deliver designed volume of scrubbing solution and pressure at spray nozzles.

FANS AND BLOWERS: System fans and booster blowers of 304 – stainless steel or mild steel construction sized to deliver a defined volume of air at the proper static pressures to overcome system effects without wasted energy.

FLOW METERS: Direct view, remote or inline magnetic style flow meters for monitoring recycled scrubbing solutions.

DIFFRENCIAL PRESSURE GAUGES: A key instrument for monitoring pressure drop across scrubbers that defines their performance and measures resistance of air flow through scrubber internals in inches of water column.

CHEMICAL FEED & MOINTORS: Instruments for monitoring pH and ORP values of recycled scrubbing solution are matched with appropriate chemical feed devices (pumps or valves) to achieve optimum odor control with minimal chemical use.

RECORDERS: Recording scrubber operating parameters for recycle rates, pressure drop, temperature and chemical feed (pH & ORP) instruments is a good source of data to document your odor control system has been operated within mfg design parameters.   Maintaining a historical record of the chemical feed cycle will give you a clear picture of chemical demand in relation to plant operations.
